چکیده

Breast-conserving surgery (BCS) is becoming an increasingly preferred surgical technique for treating breast cancer. For the last several decades, using a preoperative wire placed by radiologist has been gold standard to help guide surgeons excise suspicious mass. In recent years, there increasing focus on surgeon-performed intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) during breast-conserving therapy, suggesting improved cosmetic outcomes and decreased need re-excision. However, studies have also highlighted that may be uncomfortable who become most familiar with wire-localization technique. Wire localization are valuable tools can improve accuracy of tumor reduce We present 45-year-old female right mass, measuring imaging reporting data system (BIRADS) 4A ultrasound. Intraoperative was performed surgeon utilizing guidance. The lesion successfully excised negative margins. patient discharged home recovered well. Surgeon-performed combined re-excision allow retain familiarity gold-standard Further research needed determine optimal use IOUS wire-localization, its impact long-term outcomes.

Comparison of outcomes of surgeon-performed intraoperative ultrasonography-guided wire localization and preoperative wire localization in nonpalpable breast cancer patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery

This study aimed to determine the efficacy of intraoperative ultrasonography-guided wire localization guided breast-conserving surgery (BCS) for nonpalpable breast cancer and compare it to conventional preoperative wire localization (PWL) guided surgery. We retrospectively analyzed the medical charts of 214 consecutive nonpalpable breast cancer patients who underwent BCS using intraoperative ult...

Intraoperative ultrasound: improved resection rates in breast-conserving surgery.

AIM The objective of this study was the investigation of a possible improvement of tumor resection rate, i.e. R0 vs. R1 resection when intraoperative ultrasound evaluation of tissue margins is used during breast-conserving surgery (BCS). PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 250 cases were evaluated retrospectively. The impact of ultrasound analysis onto clean margin rates was evaluated. A subgroup...

Assessment of Ultrasound / Radio-guided Occult Lesion Localization in Non-palpable Breast Lesions

Objective(s): Controversy exists about the localization of non-palpable breast lesions. In many countries, the gold standard for the diagnosis of these lesions is needle localization due to its accuracy. This study sought to compare the ultrasoundand radio-guided occult lesion localization (ROLL) as a simple method with the conventional procedures in terms of their diagnostic power. Methods: Th...
